BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from Wigan, KOODOO were formed on Xmas eve 2003 when drummer Ben Yates answered an advert by Paul Wilkinson (bass/vox) and Tom Derbyshire (guitar/vox) in Music 90  entitled:

"
Drummer required to join bassist and guitar player for local rock band."

The meeting took place in the Tudor, a rock pub in    Wigan.  The lads hit it off from the start and much drinking and mayhem followed.

After an inspiring first jam, it was decided that a fourth member a singer/guitar player was required to beef up the sound.  Ben knew just the man, guitarist and singer
David Winstanley.  With Dave on board all that was needed was a name.

After much thought, names such as "
the bumsy clastards", "king louis" , "the rocket powered monkeys", "the floaters", "liquid sky" and too many others to name, were rejected and "KOODOO" was chosen. Catchy, easy to spell, perfect!

The band then set about learning a set of cover songs with the aim of getting a gig sometime in the summer of 2004.  However as is often the case, original material began to develop, and before long KOODOO had the band had their first song written.  Soon after, the band had their next song, "Rock n Roll Cocaine Dreams".

With the set in the bag, the band then set off on the gig trail performing  in and around Wigan at venues such as "Club Nivarna" playing their own material,  jam nights at various pubs around Wigan and St. Helens, regular cover gigs such as at "Gems" in Wigan and also at gigs staged by themselves supported by other bands.

KOODOO have also played at the JJB stadium (on April 15th 05) before the Wigan R.L. game against the Leeds Rhinos as part of the pre-match entertainment and are set to return on SATURDAY 27th MAY 2006, finished 3rd out of some 20 or so local bands in the 2005 Wigan Evening Post Battle of the Bands Competition, and have whipped up a good local following in the pubs of Wigan and the surrounding area, performing a mix of modern/classic and original rock music.

KOODOO plan to spend the rest of 2006 writing and recording new material in order to put together a tour of UK venues in early to mid 2007.
